NIB participates in the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) Small-to-Medium Practitioner (SMP) event

Today The National Insurance Board (NIB) participated in the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) Small-to-Medium Practitioner (SMP) event at Margaritaville Resort, under the theme "Building A Successful Business In The SME Space." Businesses were informed on how to properly register a business, reminded of the importance of remaining compliant and encouraged to utilize the Employer Self Service (ESS) portal and the new C-10 EzSUBMIT & PAY Mobile App - both designed to streamline compliance processes and to make paying contributions easier. NIB actively participates in these types of events to enhance public awareness and facilitate compliance among businesses and self-employed individuals.

The National Insurance Act & Regulations provides for the payment of Sickness Benefit when a worker is quarantined - i.e., when he is “required to abstain from work because he is under observation by reason of being a carrier, or his having been in contact with a case of an infectious disease” (B&A Reg. 31[2]).

The National Insurance Act & Regulations provides for the payment of Sickness Benefit when a worker is rendered (temporarily) “incapable of work as a result of a specified disease or physical or mental disablement...”
