NIB staff visited 13 Senior Homes in New Providence

As a part of the National Insurance Board’s 45th anniversary celebrations, NIB staff visited 13 Senior Homes in New Providence, Grand Bahama and Andros. Staff members volunteered their time and their hearts to fellowship with the residents; serving hot meals, talking and singing. Many of the Homes’ residents are valued pensioners who would have been unable to attend Customer Appreciation Day usually held earlier in the month of October. NIB’s visit to the Senior Homes is just one way to make all pensioners feel included and appreciated.

The National Insurance Board advises recipients of Long-Term Benefits and Assistances that the 2018 increases to pensions will be paid in October. The increases (of up to 1.2%) will be paid retroactive to July of this year.

The amendments made to the National Insurance Act in 2010 introduced automatic biennial adjustments to pensions, grants and the wage ceiling. The adjustment to pensions and grants is based on the change in the retail price index in the two previous calendar years prior to the adjustment year.
