NIB's Road to 50th Anniversary

Golden Jubilee – Schedule of Events

Freeport Local Office Customer Appreciation Day
The National Insurance Board (NIB) celebrates its 49th Anniversary with a Customer Appreciation day held at the sub-office in Freeport, Grand Bahama. The traditional cake cutting ceremony this year held special significance as 49-year-old staff member, Ms. Robertha Fischbacher, presented the first piece of cake to 50-year-old customer, Ms. Nerissa Russell; symbolizing NIB’s strategic focus to enhance service delivery moving into its Golden Jubilee.

Highlighted throughout the day were two innovative solutions available to improve customer service – the Employer Self Service portal designed to make paying contributions and submitting contribution payments easier for Employers and the Registrant Self Service portal, which gives workers online access to check their contribution status.

Public Relations officer for the NIB, Tonique Williams, said that NIB has so much to showcase over the next 12 months with a series of events, initiatives and innovations to touch all stakeholders. A Feast of Love: NIB Feeds Over 1,300 Senior Citizens

This heartwarming initiative is a beacon of warmth and love, reigniting connections and spreading joy throughout The Bahamas. We have embarked on a mission to visit 10 Homes in New Providence, four (4) in Grand Bahama, and 12 other communities in the Family Islands. Our aim - to feed over 1,300 senior citizens this holiday season.

A Heartwarming Programme for Our Beloved Seniors
On this occasion, Senior officials and staff of NIB served a traditional Christmas meal to the residents of the Senior Homes. The programme commenced with joined hands for the blessing of the food followed by sweet sounds of Christmas songs. Our teams fellowshipped with the residents creating moments of joy and connection. Of course, the celebration was not complete without a slice of our special Anniversary cake.

Official Stop: Persis Rodgers Home for the Aged
For our official visit, our Director, Chairman, and Minister gathered at the Persis Rodgers Home for the Aged sharing words of inspiration and heartfelt wishes with the residents.

As a collective body, the family of NIB will volunteer our time and service in feeding the elderly of our community. Several homes have been identified within New Providence and many throughout the family islands. We look forward to serving with you as we give back to the most vulnerable throughout our Bahama islands.

On Thursday January 18th, 2024 NIB offices throughout the Bahamas hosted an inaugural Pensioners' Day. The initiative hosted from 10:00am-2:00pm welcomed some 900 pensioners for sharing key insights and tips. The main takeaways were to remind pensioners of the importance of verifying twice a year to remain eligible for the continuation of their pension benefit or assistance and to encourage pensioners to transition from in-person pension payment to payment by wire transfers for more efficient customer service.

At NIB's headquarters on Baillou Hill Road, the day was a fun-filled event for all as pensioners were treated to a hearty lunch, music, prizes and surprises. Each pensioner was presented with a special 50th Anniversary gift bag and t-shirt inscribed with, "The Promise Works!", - a reminder of the promise NIB made in 1974 to provide income replacement to eligible persons in time of need.

Pensioners' Day was just the first of many events planned for 2024 in celebration of NIB's 50th Anniversary. For a complete listing of all events visit the NIB website at or stay connected via Facebook or Instagram.
